Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bridge-utils

An external machine DHCPing through a local bridge causes the computer
to crash (monitor goes to energy saving mode, unable to recover). This
only happens after a successful DHCP from the external machine.
(ethernet address removed) My bridge is very simple: eth0 is to the LAN,
eth1 is to the external machine (a Dell laptop with Windows XP)

brctl show
bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces
br0 8000.00xxxxxxxxba no eth0
                                                                        eth1
