Thanks for reporting this bug and helping to make ubuntu better. The dpkg log shows that it wanted to stop mysql, but wasn't sure how. So it asked you to stop mysql yourself, then retry the upgrade.
Could you please post here the result of 'ps -ef | grep mysql' ? Then do a 'stop mysql' and re-try the upgrade. ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium ** Changed in: mysql-dfsg-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- package mysql-server-5.1 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/627723 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.1 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
