This is just a Maverick issue, Lucid could connect to any wirless network I asked it to. I did use the alternative iso to install Maverick (as opposed to the desktop iso for Lucid) so I could test btrfs. I haven't tried using the maverick desktop iso but I can burn one and boot into live ubuntu to see if it still occurs there.
