I have this problem, too. The Places/Network folder is unusable. I can connect to a server directly if I give a name, but I can't browse.
findsmb lists no servers, not even the local host. smbtree -N says WARNING: no network interfaces found smbclient -L mycomputer correctly lists share but also gives the same warning as smbtree -N I have tried these tests both with ufw enabled and disabled; the result is the same.
