Can those running a NAS other than the Apple Time Capsule clarify what NAS it is they're using, and (if possible) what CIFS implementation it's based on?
Could someone who's experiencing this problem try getting a packet capture of the network activity (tcpdump -i <network_interface> -n -s 1500 -w broken-cifs.pcap 'host <server_ip> and (port 139 or port 445)')?
