You have been subscribed to a public bug: If I use nautilus to browse a smb share from a samba server, this works fine. If I try to browse a share on a NetApp server, this fails with the error:
"Could not display "smb://netapp/home/ft". Error: Failed to mount Windows share Please select another viewer and try again." However, browsing the same share using Konqueror gives correct behaviour in that I can browse file, see preview and copy/paste. However, I am not able to open the files using with some of the application, e.g. Xarchive and Kwrite works, but not F-Spot, Gimp, Eye of Gnome. Openoffice asks for an extra login, but works thereafter... It's been a while, but I believe "everything" worked in 7.10... f...@vader:~/bin$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 8.10 Release: 8.10 f...@vader:~/bin$ uname -a Linux vader 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:18:38 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux f...@vader:~/bin$ dpkg-query -W smbfs smbclient smbclient 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3 smbfs 2:3.2.3-1ubuntu3 f...@vader:~/bin$ dpkg-query -W nautilus konqueror konqueror 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu4 nautilus 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- not possible to browse or open cifs/smb files from netapp server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293361 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
