Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu. What exactly do you mean by "updating Ubuntu", did you try to upgrade from ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04, or were you just trying to update 16.04 to its latest? Your logs show some packages from 18.04, I wonder if you just changed "xenial" to "bionic" in /etc/apt/sources.list and tried an "apt dist-upgrade"?
