Thank you for considering this request and marking it appropriately. Please kindly suggest to the Debian folks that this future ngx-conf utility should be in a separate package to isolate the need for python. I only noticed this because I routinely remove anything to do with python from my VPS and lxc containers to keep them as light as possible and I was puzzled why installing nginx(-light) tried to reinstall python-2.7.
