Yes, I did that as soon as I had installed the OS, as I had figured out (and posted on Ubuntu forums) that this was an issue. I doublechecked it after the mySQL upgrade, and it was still correct. Maybe it just needed the reboot to flush out. I don't know, but as I said, it seems to be working fine from the command-line and phpMyAdmin at this time.
