Hi, I really dont think its a kernel problem either basically you have a process on your machine that is chewing up all of your memory and you really have to nail it down to see why that is. The reason why you are getting OOM because its not that smart and it killed the first. You might want to consider try a different version of apache (other than mpm-worker) as well. From what you have given us so far I cant really tell which is eating up all of your memory.
