Public bug reported: Today's security upgrade to mysql-server-5.0 5.0.45-1ubuntu3.3 failed for me on an AMD 64 platform with an error message "access denied for debian-sys-maint". After the failed upgrade, I was no longer able to start or stop the MySQL service with the script in /etc/init.d.mysql, as I received the same error message.
After manually changing the privileges for the debian-sys-maint user with the password found in /etc/mysql/debian.cnf, the upgrade continued. ** Affects: mysql-dfsg-5.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Security upgrade to 5.0.45-1ubuntu3.3 fails on AMD 64 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
