Hi abhieud,

The new usb-creator-gtk version 0.3.2 is only available in Xenial Xerus (to be released as 16.04 LTS). It is not available in 14.04, but I hope it will be SRU'd soon.

-o-

It is possible to *test* it in 14.04 with some workarounds:

A. Add a repository with the new version:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

and add the line

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial main

and save the file.

B. Update:

sudo apt-get update

C. Install:

sudo apt-get install usb-creator-gtk

Now you can test it :-)

D. In order to avoid confusion later on, you should remove the line:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial main

from the file /etc/apt/sources.list

E. Update again:

sudo apt-get update

I tested it in a live session of a Lubuntu 14.04.2, Lubuntu trusty-daily iso file, and Ubuntu 15.04, and it works for me.

Good luck :-)

Hi,

Does it mean that this bug is fixed in the package?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1325801
how can I test it in 14.04?

thanks

*Subject:* Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator alias usb-creator-gtk

Hi everybody,

A. Great good news: the Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator alias
usb-creator-gtk works, and I think it is likely to continue to work,
because it clones the iso file now.

This is usb-creator-gtk version 0.3.2, which arrived at the Xenial daily
iso files yesterday. Thanks Marc Deslauriers :-)

B. Minor bad news: Bug #1537836, papercut level infrastructure fixes

But the infrastructure around it is not updated:

1. man usb-creator-gtk

2. usb-creator-gtk --version

3. the help text (there is no persistence now) and screenshot in the
Ubuntu Software Center and Synaptic

See this bug report

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/usb-creator/+bug/1537836/

C. When we want a persistent live drive, we can use for example mkusb

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/mkusb

Best regards
Nio
