For some reason the lp:ubuntu/gedit branch is (heavily) outdated. The last commit is dated 2011-06-28. See: https://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/vivid/gedit/vivid I suppose the packagers use another location for the Ubuntu gedit package??
