Let me make a quick note on this.

I tested in a VM that I gave 4 vCPUs, 50GB disk, and 2GB RAM. This
error seems to just be one of those warning messages that doesn't
really break the program at all, so from a bug triage perspective this
is a "Low" (Ubuntu Bug Triage importance), or "Minor" (Debian BTS
importance), bug importance.

I'm not sure this actually needs fixing, unless it gets fixed
alongside some other problem issues that would show up, as the program
continues to work as intended and works fine, installing software
correctly. (I tested with my own packages' installation from my
local, private repository, and the nginx team's PPA installation, and
Synaptic functioned fine in 14.04).

Note that the faster way we can help people on potential bugs is by using
ubuntu-bug (http://tinyurl.com/kaxuoht).

This is because:
- We have technical details about the issue.
- We can prioritize work items.

You see these 'errors' in quite a few places - I've been seeing them for a long long time :)

running ubuntu-bug gets me a similar error

(process:8148): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed

Just fyi.
