Yes, Smoketesting is basically installing either (or both) alternate or
live desktop cds in order to find faults as early as possible.

There are some issues with this process in that sometimes the daily iso
fails to builds or is missing apps that weren't uploaded in time.  This
will mean that the cd will not install.

If this happens don't panic just try again the next day which should
include the fixes from the day before.

For a more direct response to these kind of issues it might be good if
you use the irc channel as often these issues are already known.
