After installing TWRP, I booted into recovery and wiped cache and

All now works fine.
It means though losing all current data, so you need to backup as
needed prior to wiping partitions
Yay! All working now. Used the guide above (same one for initial
flashing), but did NOT erase data partition. Did everything else, and
have all my data back, as well as changing to rc-proposed.
