that happened to me in the past with other phones (it was Nokia Lumias if I remember correctly), it is probably because the charger is not grounded and the digitizer is not perfectly isolated, so it gets some electricity and it thinks you're touching the display when you're actually not. It's similar to what happens when you use your phone under the rain (don't try this at home :D). I'm not sure if this is a hardware defect of your phone or all the E5 though.
