Did you go into writable mode at all? I'd check if the cache partition is not full (/cache/recovery/) Before deleting everything in there, send over your/cache/recovery/last_log_r and if that is empty send over /cache/recovery/log to see what is going on during the update. I don't think those files store any personal information, but you may want to double check.
