Just figured out my main issue. I saw a page which suggested 15.04.1 is stable and 15.10 is development. But, upon a second look, 15.04.1 is de velopment, and there is no 15.10. I've just updated from the staging PPA, so I can now use version 1.3. The offending page is this one: https://developer.ubuntu.com/en/apps/qml/api/ It says stable (15.04) and development (15.10), but both links actually lead to 15.04.1, which is not the stable release. But, as you say, the documentation should list version 1.3.
