It's just that IME support on Android is excellent and losing features with an "upgraded" phone feels wrong. Under all the Android alternatives (Firefox-OS, Tizen), Ubuntu-Phone still seems to be the software that is closest to getting a japanese IME (also considering the chances of never even getting a firmware upgrade for other phones).
