Hi Nekhelesh,
I am still able to reproduce this both on a fresh install and on the
install I'm actively using. (Yes, I'm using MultiROM.)
The notification isn't shown and I cannot raise the volume above a very
low threshold while I am being called or while I am listening to music
(but I can control it). Only very rarely the issue will not be there
for me. However, the phone will not change its behaviour after booting.
Either the bug is there or it isn't. Very likely it will be broken
after the next reboot though.
Have you tried rebooting a couple of times again?
Cheers,
Niklas

@Nicklas and Ari, After a couple of reboots I can no longer reproduce
the ringer, alarm volume issue. I talked Brendan and Riccardo Salvetti
and the way it works is that the volume buttons change the volume of
the current active volume role. So for instance, if the alarm is
ringing and you press the volume buttons, it would change the volume
of the alarm role only. The same applies to ringer volume, media
volume etc etc. So if your calls are audible, then I would suggest
making a call to your phone and then adjusting the volume.
What threw me of initially was that the above mentioned did no't work
for me when I replied to the email thread earlier. I also did not see
the volume snap notification which shows up when you press the
physical volume buttons. So there could very well be a bug, but I am
unable to reproduce this any further.
I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Nekhelesh

Ok, while alarms are audible quite well for me, calls aren't.

The problem I have is that I can barely hear the music played by
the music app. When it's playing, the volume keys do control the
music volume but even when the slider is set to the maximum volume
the actual volume is quite low. I haven't tested alarms yet. I'll
do so and report how well it works for me in a minute.

This is probably because there are two volume contexts, media and
ringer/notification. Changing one will not change the other - if
there is media playing it will always change the media volume. The
bug here I suppose is not differentiating between the two in the
volume overlay, but the mechanism itself works fine.

Hi
I updated to this release OTA from #5 on October 18th. I use my
Nexus 4 every day at work and at home, and have done so for the
past month. Below are some issues I have encountered. I am
posting them here in the hope that this may prove helpful, but
if I should have done otherwise, please let me know!
General comment: Release #5 was more stable.
I agree. With release #6, I am facing some of the issues you
listed below which are annoying during daily usage. But I read in
the landing email that there would be another promotion soon
enough to fix the unity8 crashes and the high cpu usage which
results in abrupt battery discharge.
1) After upgrade the settings page "about this phone" lists the
last update as having taken place on 2 January 1970.
I don't see this issue.
5) Turning sound up/down seems to work, except for the ring tone
and notification sound, which seem to work/not work in a fairly
random manner, despite the sound level apparently being set to
maximum.
For me this is a critical issue. On pressing the physical sound
buttons, I notice that the volume icons indicate that the volume
is being increased/decreased as expected. However the alarm and
the call volume are barely audible despite the volume slider set
to maximum. I thought perhaps I messed up the volume while doing
some development. But I am glad in a way that another person can
also reproduce it. Can someone let me know which project to
report this bug against?
Cheers,
Nekhelesh
