Thanks Jamie. I tried this and it still didn't work for me. The unity8 process never runs, I left it for about an hour. (got to the same place as before); I tried running the arm emulator and it also got stuck after setting up X socket directories, so I'm not sure if it may be because I'm on elementary OS. I've got a nice big empty partition waiting for Ubuntu, so I'll install it and see from there.
Thanks again for the assistance Jodie On 17 May 2014 16:07, Jamie Strandboge <ja...@canonical.com> wrote: > On 05/17/2014 04:50 AM, Jodie Robinson wrote: > > > > > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > > From: *Jodie Robinson* <jodiematthewrobin...@gmail.com > > <mailto:jodiematthewrobin...@gmail.com>> > > Date: 17 May 2014 11:49 > > Subject: Re: [Ubuntu-phone] X86 Ubuntu Touch Emulator > > To: Jamie Strandboge <ja...@canonical.com <mailto:ja...@canonical.com>> > > > > > > Hello again. > > > > The emulator hasn't worked for me. > > It would boot until it said: > > > > * Setting up X socket directories... > [ OK ] > > > > after which it just doesn't do anything.
