this is a known issu with the tty adbd provides and there is currently
no solution or workaround.
you can either switch to use vi via adb or ...
setprop persist.service.ssh true
enable ssh with the above command and use nano via ssh (the setting is
persistent, if you want ssh off again set the property to false)
