Just fixed both issues at our code-base and I'm also uploading updated images at people.canonical.com/~rsalveti/aosp/hammerhead/ (upload should be completed in ~10 minutes). I removed the console as it's indeed not useful for us, and I'm now loading the wireless driver as a module (during init), which is enough as at that time persist is already mounted. Nexus 5 still has a bunch of issues, which I'll try to investigate more during the weekend (everything is already public at code-review.phablet.ubuntu.com, but still needs to be approved).
