Hello François, To wake up instantly from sleep simply copy /usr/share/powerd/device_configs/config-maguro.xml to /usr/share/powerd/device_configs/config-crespo.xml.
I'm trying to port Ubuntu Touch to Nexus S in my spare time, too. Maybe we can collaborate between us.
