What about this: Is there a project tarball (or bzr repository) of some sort that I could download and then point qmake at it from the command line (with whatever debugging / verbose options turned on) to see what happens?
Keep in mind I don't really know what I'm talking about. So it would have to be a pretty straightforward set of steps -- e.g. along the lines of download and unpack tarball from... (or "bzr branch ...") and then type "qmake ... 2>&1 > what-happens.log"
