A possible solution would be to always show the toolbar when entering
a page, and then have the toolbar slide down offscreen after a couple
of seconds (if it's not touched).

This would also allow the user to quickly go back to the main page
from a deep page, by always pressing on the same screen area with no
gestures in between.
