Is it because of Rust's programming features like Safe,Concurrency,..etc .? I think Servo will take years & years to shape as an usable rendering engine. Now people are more interested to make WebKit parallel by moving Image Decoding [1], HTML Parser [2][3], to separate threads. Open Web Standards like WebGL there to design graphics intensive applications to run inside a browser, WebCL for heterogeneous<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterogeneous_computing> parallel computing <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_computing>(Still evolving), Web Workers for JavaScript concurrency, & more. Now the trend is more towards standardization than replication. What I mean to say is, "Implementing the standard make the web rendering engine more rock-solid than re-implementing from scratch". Because of this reason Opera switched to use existing implementation like WebKit/Blink. Still Ubuntu Phone is in early stage, choosing the right browser is more important to swim the _Sea_Of_Web_. So +1 for WebKit. :) [1] https://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-dev/2012-July/021395.html [2] https://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-dev/2013-January/023271.html [3] https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1hwYyvkT7HFLAtTX_7LQp2lxA6LkaEWkXONmjtGCQjK0/edit On 8 April 2013 13:36, Owais Lone <he...@owaislone.org> wrote: > I think Servo would be the best bet in the long run but it'll probably > reach 1.0 after years of development. > > > https://blog.mozilla.org/blog/2013/04/03/mozilla-and-samsung-collaborate-on-next-generation-web-browser-engine/ > > > On Sun, Apr 7, 2013 at 11:14 PM, Robert Bruce Park < > robert.p...@canonical.com> wrote: > >> Opera recently announced that they would be halting engine development >> and switching to chrome... so they are already on blink. >> >> Aleksandar Jovanov <ajovano...@yahoo.com> wrote: >> >> >Or prehaps partner with opera software and develop opera for ubuntu >> (touch)? >> > >> >On 04/07/2013 12:45 PM, József Király wrote: >> >> Google forked WebKit into Blink because most of its features (such as >> >> the Javascript engine, or the Chrome/ium multi-process engine) were >> >> already replaced by their own code, meaning a full-blown WebKit >> >> included in Chrome/ium would simply take up precious place.
