It is true, what I've written in this design critique I wrote [1], Ubuntu is kind of moving towards touch oriented interfaces, and forgets mouse-using people. But that thing will probably be discussed for the 14.04 release, as it will be the unifying version. My guess is that it will be a mix of current GTK and KDE...
