I personally think that scientific buttons should be stored on a separate screen which can be revealed with a two-fingered swipe, so for example:
Basic screen -swipe-> Buttons such as sqrt, ^x, root x etc. This would allow the user to only use the special functions when required, and keep them out of the way for general use. It could also (or instead) use some sort of swipe up toolbar for extra buttons, so maybe: You type 2. In the toolbar appears: 2 ^2 sqrt sin(2) cos(2) tan(2) and so on... You type another 2. In the toolbar: 22 ^22 22nd root sin(22) and so on. (Note: I'm not actually sure if it's called 22nd root, but what I mean is 22[root sign]) You select sin(22). In the toolbar: sin(22) sin^-1(22) I think if this was to be implemented it would have to be optional (so users who don't usually use sqrt etc. don't have to continually tap 22 if they type 22). In fact, I think that basic users should have method 1(two-fingered swipe menu), and advanced should have method 2 (toolbar). Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks!
