Hi Allan,

Hindi na ito maging matrabaho kasi gawin nating lightweight and distro.
So yung documentation, translation, testing, etc ay hindi rin
matrabaho kasi konti na lang yung apps, features/components, etc ang
sinasama sa distro.

Ok. Maganda yan. Somebody needs to create a customized distro first tuned to our needs(that includes several people like graphic designers and sys admins), then start the translation process. If there is an application that needs to be translated to Cebuano or Filipino languages, then I think I can provide a little time to help. I already tried to translate the "Ubuntu Software" center to Filipino through my launchpad account but found it difficult, because the default English is much easier to understand.

Regards,
Allan

No, its Acedilla < cabpacedi...@gmail.com >, I think suggesting for a
customized Ubuntu-distro(personalized boot splash, inclusion/exclusion of specific applications from an Ubuntu upstream image) I think this is more
than a _translation effort_ . Yes, a customized distro could be done via
sourceforge.

I have a survey here regarding language preferences: http://goo.gl/1SoZ5 .
Please participate, if you can. It would be interesting to find out the
preferences of fellow list members.

Allan, I applaud your enthusiasm for a Pinoy distro. Here's a tool that
could make it easier if you decide to proceed with your plans:
http://uck.sourceforge.net/ . IMO, much easier than building and maintaining
your own.

Good luck!

Translation is fine. Pero yong customized wallpapers, boot splash images, and other customizations not related to translation, I believe is more of a Mint-liked distribution rather than a pure translation of existing packages.
Siguro, pwede mag create ng Philippine specific repository para lang sa
customization specific to the Philippines.

We can remove all Server components sa Ubuntu base installation para mas
lalong liliit ang distro at kaunti na lang i-translate.
Ang mga Audio, video, graphics apps at Open Office ay pwede nang hindi
i-translate. Kahit yung web browser na lang at text editor ang i-translate
muna for a start.
So Ubuntu-ph translation team cannot make an independent Ububtu-based
distro?

So right
out-of-box after installation, magkaroon na ang user ng customized distro
na angkop sa taste, culture ng Pilipino.

Try mo Bayanihan Linux gawa ng taga DOST. Kailangan ng malaking
infrastructure yong sinasabi mong Ubuntu distribution na angkop sa Filipino culture, dahil yong upstream ay di yan tatang-gapin, unless merong may pera
na willing mag sponsor na taga Pinas.
