Dear Benjamin and Ahmed, Thank you for your advice and recommendations. This morning, I filed the request for sync using requestsync, as you recommended last night. It has been registered as Launchpad bug #618690 (https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lyx/+bug/618690).
I have tried to be as thorough as possible (requestsync appears to have filled in all of the required information for me, which was marvelous). Please let me know if you need anything else. I will begin working on the bug list later this afternoon. Right now, the LyX trac appears to be down and it isn't possible to make any comparisons.
