Just to confirm, do you mean /etc/X11/xorg-crownbeach.conf, instead of /etc/X11/xorg.conf? If this is done ahead of time (within the development environment), before creating the image, I assume that booting to single user mode would no longer be necessary, right? Also, I did a search for psb.ko in the /lib/modules/2.6.22-menlow-default directory, and it turned up in kernel/drivers/char/drm/psb.ko. However, psb.ko is not installed by the linux-menlow-default package and is instead installed by the psb-kmd-default package. I suspect, however, that this isn't enough, as this package was already installed when I created my last Crownbeach image, and the X cycling issue occurred with this image.
