Hey Jo-Erlend, If you're using an existing recording (performance) then you need to get permission from the publisher of that work for use of the copyright on that performance. You also may need, or if it's a new performance; permission from the people who own the copyright on the lyrics and music.
Of course this is all moot if you know the person directly or they are not a part of the traditional music business. Then it gets either harder or easier depending on if they like you and your derivative work. For movies (and the film industry) there are clearing houses for copyrights on using music as background tracks. These houses have deals with all the right people so they can collect the royalties for use of works in films. IANAL, please see a copyright lawyer for advice.
