Hello:

Early in my professional career I once submitted a software change
request with the words "the software doesn't agree with the
documentation". To describe a fault in the software, by now you may have
guess the approach that they took to resolve this bug.  They fixed the
documentation, since then I have been very careful addressing any issues
regrading software bugs.

The splash screen issue is a marketing issue, since there is nothing
wrong with the code. It's a problem with the way the code is introduced
to new users, and promoting products to new customers is called
marketing.

I was holding off reporting the bug until I ran it by the marketing
team, because I was expecting that "this isn't the place for this
comment" for them. 

Maybe I am wrong but I thought that this is the place to talk about
anything that has to do with getting the word out about Ubuntu.
Especially something that could be an obstacle.
