Hi John,

I don't concur for two reasons.

Firstly:
Ubuntu is the gnome version, and that is the "base" upon which the
others are built.
The word is Ubuntu think of its origin, that of a supportive community.

Secondly:
GUBU is an acronym standing for Grotesque, Unbelievable, Bizarre and
Unprecedented. I don't think we need to go there.
If you want to know its origin check wikipedia.

On the subject of branding, the word is there, it is in use, it is doing
rather well for itself.
