Ubuntu 12.10 will have TeX Live 2012 in the normal repositories. For those of you using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, you can use a backport PPA: https://launchpad.net/~texlive-backports/+archive/ppa Therefore, there won't be a need to use tlmgr next release if you don't want to.
