Status in Ubuntu Manual: Fix Committed Bug description: "fdisk -l" didn't show me anything unless I used sudo >>FIXED "sudo mount /dev/sda1 /media/root" -> IMHO there should be a small sidenote telling the user to replace "sda1" with whatever partition fdsik told him Linux was on. >>FIXED "sudo grub-install -root-directory=/media/root /dev/sda" should be "sudo grub-install --root-directory=/media/root /dev/sda" >>FIXED Finally the whole procedure didn't work for me. It installed Grub, but it didn't show a list of boot options, it gave me a command line interface instead. (Since I have a separate home partition anyway, and needed my system repaired quickly I reinstalled karmic). >>WON'T FIX >>Instead, I will add useful links for trying other grub repair methods. manual lucid alpha chapter 8: troubleshooting code example error, instruction error _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual Post to : ubuntu-manual@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
