I've updated the install-pkgs.sh script (located in the ubuntu- manual/pkgs/ directory). It will check to see that you have the proper version of TeX Live installed and also install any missing packages (both TeX and Ubuntu) and fonts.
Please let me know if you run into any problems with the script.
