This is an interesting issue, There is not built in way to do translations at all in latex, so we will have to figure that out. I will look into it, but it might require that we just have separate branches for diff languages. I am not familiar enough with bzr to figure out if there is a way to branch something, and then every no and then pull in new files as the English version gets updated.
The issue is because we are doing so much work right now, and everything is so fluid it is very hard to have the translators work. Nothing is edited and so little changes will keep happening to the main document. So it would be best if the translations don't start until after we are pretty much done, but of course we don't want to lose the steam we have now. So, does anyone have any ideas? --Joe Burgess CMU Information Systems '12 (703) 402-9206 PGP key 645EF64E On 01/04/2010 06:43 AM, Benjamin Humphrey wrote: > Hi Anwar, > > At the moment we haven't actually set up translation support with > LaTeX and Launchpad Rosetta - but this is a top priority and we should > have this up and running hopefully before the end of this week. > > In the mean time, perhaps you could get the current branch revision > and start translating chapters 1, 2 and 3 into plain text so that when > we do get the translation support running it will be very easy to just > transfer it across. > > Thanks, > Benjamin > > On 1/5/10, Anwar Mohammed <zer...@hotmail.com> wrote: >> i think i can help with this project >> i am Arabic (native) so i can help in translating this manual >> -- >> This message was sent from Launchpad by the user >> Anwar Mohammed (https://launchpad.net/~zero-n) >> using the "Contact this team" link on the Ubuntu Manual Team team page. >> For more information see >> https://help.launchpad.net/YourAccount/ContactingPeople >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual >> Post to : ubuntu-manual@lists.launchpad.net >> Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-manual >> More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp >> > >
