Hi Needed to know what would be the best method to connect two laptops, both using ubuntu using an ethernet cable, to transfer data directtly. There is not option to connect onto an existing network.
Many years back a friend had connected his laptop to mine , i think using ssh . ** Also it seems that a cross over cable is not essential as the "newer" ethernet cards are able to deduce and switch to the correct mode automagically.
