Then you are probably using the wrong base. If you are interested in a minimal system, start with Ubuntu Minimal ISO that is only 10 MB but needs net connection to download all packages that you may configure it for. Or start with a Server CD, Install the base system and then add apps of your choice. If you want even more customisation there is Arch which lets you choose everything, but is more involved with the command line, but has excellent documentation to assist you in every step of the way. AFAIK uninstalling packages from a full Linux desktop install like Ubuntu will leave a system unstable or unusable as the packages are tightly integrated and dependant on each other. Persoannly if you are looking for EASY customisation Ubuntu Server CD is the best bet. -- Regards Narendra Diwate
