Yes, thats ok - however consider this
a) Dual booting with either windows boot manager or ubuntu boot
manager provides more management options and keeps your original
genuine windows intacts

b) if your windows has only one partition i.e data and os on one then
its time to read up on data safety, windows crashes, virus and other
malware problems are notorious for destroying data and making them
very hard to recover.

did you follow the links, it seems that this particular model of Acer
Aspire has some problems with Ubuntu (linux). Am not sure much can be
done about that.
