Hi Seems like data safety is a big concern, so was wondering if we could share information in the form of tips and people, esp new comers would know what others do and we all could also learn. (as well as other tips to make computing more efficient)
This Tip To make data backups and recovery efficient while using open Office Org ** When using open office there are two options to help you keep your data safe from involuntary errors . First is autosave Go to Tools -> Options -> Load/Save In the autosave option change it to any number of minutes that you think you need. Autosaving every 5 minutes is what i use. For large files (like Presentations it can be a pain but in the end its worth it) The second option to check is is "Always Create Backup Copy" What i have done is made a directory called AutoBakups in my /home/ram directory By default open office saves the autobak up to a location within its own loacation like /home/ram/.openoffice/3/backups (or something) I have changed this location to /home/ram/AutoBakups - what this does is if open office crashes or something my backups are in a place which will not go missing if i reinstall ooo.org or do a fresh Ubuntu install. ** remember that /home/ram is my home directory, yours will be what you named it. regards and safe data'ing ram
