Δείτε και το iconv από κονσόλα. Είναι ότι πρέπει για χρήση σε bash scripts για μαζική αλλαγή κωδικοποιήσης σε πολλά αρχεία ή οτιδήποτε άλλο. Το χρησιμοποιώ γι' αυτή τη δουλειά από πολύ πριν αποκτήσει το gedit σχετική επιλογή.
