This was what I got when I tried to go for installing ubuntu-gnome-desktop.
The following extra packages will be installed: gnome-accessibility-themes nautilus-share rhythmbox-plugin-magnatune The following NEW packages will be installed: gnome-accessibility-themes nautilus-share rhythmbox-plugin-magnatune ubuntu-gnome-desktop I don't believe these are absolutely necessary packages. And there is not top panel. I am posting the output of the log. It seems to me that some packages are still missing : (evolution-alarm-notify:2222): Gdk-WARNING **: evolution-alarm-notify: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0. blueman-applet: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0. Will purging all the repos and removing ubuntu-gnome-desktop be enough for that? I have tried logging in with both gdm and lightdm but i get the same result. The popup message is surprisingly gone. Aand another thing I noticed was that I was getting that prompt in other tty's also and that is also gone.
