Digging into this, this package is *automatically* imported from Debian. It looks to me like the last update that went into Debian was in 2009 with packaging updates since. So I would say that this package is orphaned up in Debian.
That said, I would open a bug in Debian indicating that it is an extremely out of date, possibly orphaned package. Note that I have CC'd the corresponding Debian team in my response to this message here, so hopefully they see it.
