Let's take a quick look at this though. We import packages from Debian. 1.4 is an old version present only in Xenial:
weechat | 1.4-2 | xenial/universe | source, all weechat | 1.4-2ubuntu0.1 | xenial-security/universe | source, all weechat | 1.4-2ubuntu0.1 | xenial-updates/universe | source, all weechat | 1.7-2 | zesty/universe | source, all weechat | 1.7-2ubuntu0.1 | zesty-security/universe | source, all weechat | 1.7-2ubuntu0.1 | zesty-updates/universe | source, all weechat | 1.9.1-1 | artful/universe | source, all weechat | 1.9.1-1 | bionic/universe | source, all Artful has 1.9.1, and Bionic is slated to have 1.9.1 as well (because that's what's latest in Debian Unstable - https://packages.qa.debian.org/w/weechat.html - at the time of package autosync). If you wish to provide additional support, I would suggest that you poke Debian to update their repository versions to 2.0.1, and then get that synced into Bionic before FeatureFreeze, and then request backports to Xenial and test (within the Backports repository - details on Backports here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBackports ) However, short of backports or running your own PPA for the updated Weechat source code/version, I don't think we're going to be able to easily bump the Xenial version (per StableReleaseUpdate policies).
