I don't have a 32 bit only laptop handy at the moment and I am probably an extreme edge case I have my mom laptop from about 2008 which is 64 bit and still has a pata drive in it. I checked a laptop used from my mom with and it had 9,330 power on hours on a pata disk but this particular laptop has a 64 bit processor but came with 32 bit windows vista. These are all in my posession right now of hardware I have on me. All the hard drives had zero reallocated sectors. I do understand hard drives eventually fail. I don't think they fail quite that often or all die by 10,000 power on hours. Although hard drive failure is mostly what hardware failures I have had.
