Please make sure a bug exists for this issue in Launchpad and that your patch is attached there. This way other developers and users have a single place to communicate about this problem and track progress. A patch just on this mailing list is likely to get forgotten. In short, a debdiff (full packaging changes incorporating the patch) needs submitting to the sponsorship queue via a bug. And for updating stable releases, there is extra effort necessary to make sure that the patch cannot regress existing users. You don't have to do this of course, but your problem is unlikely to get fixed until someone volunteers this. We're always short of reviewers; this process helps ensure that the ones available can focus their efforts on patches that are ready to land.
